A message from Oregon/Idaho President & CEO, John Porter
We’re open for business
In recent months, road construction projects around the state may have discouraged you from visiting a AAA service center. Most of the projects are now complete, but service centers in Eugene/Springfield, Medford, and
Portland continue to be affected.
EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD Several projects are under way in this area, including construction of the new I-5 Beltline interchange and replacement of the I-5 bridge immediately to the north. According to Oregon Department of Transportation officials, work should be finished by late 2008. Until then, a limited number of lanes will be open in the project area.
MEDFORD At times, our service center on Barnett Road has seemed totally isolated due to construction on the south Medford I-5 interchange. This center will be open throughout the duration of the interchange expansion project, targeted for completion in late 2010. Work on Barnett Road continues, and project managers say motorists should expect lane restrictions and flagger-controlled traffic flow on this street.
PORTLAND Access to the downtown service center—our headquarters—has been challenging as a result of the light rail expansion that began in January and is slated for completion in September 2009. We thank members for dealing with congestion, lane restrictions, and detours to find us.
Despite these challenges, our sales offices and service centers will be accessible and fully staffed to serve you through
all phases of the various construction
projects.
Keep these tips in mind
when it’s time to visit a AAA
office within a work zone:
- Call the service center or
check AAA.com for construction
updates before you leave.
- Schedule your visits during nonpeak
travel times.
- Allow extra time to get to a service center.
- If possible, take public transportation.
- Pack some extra patience to cope with
unexpected delays and detours.
- If you don’t have time to cope with the inconveniences, you can always conduct routine
business by calling your local office or logging on to AAA.com.
Rest assured, we are open for business.
